Strategist in Social Sustainability
Region Värmland's Department for Sustainable Development is seeking a strategist who wants to contribute to the development of a long-term sustainable society.
With us, you will work in a development-oriented and dynamic environment where diversity is valued as a strength and where your commitment contributes to real change.
About Us
The Department for Sustainable Development is part of Region Värmland and is tasked with helping the organization meet both current and future societal challenges through relevant and value-creating services that are socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. Here, employees with expertise in sustainability, human rights, environment, innovation, and development work together, united by a common commitment to complex societal issues.
The Sustainability Unit initiates, supports, and leads assignments within social and environmental sustainability. The unit serves both as a strategic and operational support to the organization's activities to translate ambitions, goals, and political decisions into concrete actions.
Competence development is an obvious part of our working method. As an employee, you will have the opportunity to develop both through the assignments you work on and through collaborative team-based learning.
Job Description
As a strategist in social sustainability, you will drive, support, and coordinate Region Värmland's internal sustainability work. You will contribute with sustainability expertise and serve as a strategic support in the organizations' change processes, which means being an important link between political decisions and daily operations – from idea and planning to implementation, analysis, and actual change.
The role involves working in a development-oriented environment where collaboration is central. With a rights-based approach as a foundation, you strengthen and support, together with colleagues in environment, human rights, and gender equality, the region's activities in developing and implementing sustainability work in practice. This is a role for you who want to contribute to long-term change by enabling, supporting, and driving development – not just managing existing structures.
Qualifications
Relevant academic education in social sciences, sustainability, or education deemed equivalent by the employer, as well as three years of work experience, is required.
You have extensive experience working with social sustainability, preferably in contexts where governance, leadership, and analysis have played a central role. You have a well-established knowledge of rights-based approaches and various rights perspectives, and the ability to translate these into practical operations.
You are accustomed to driving, supporting, and coordinating change work in collaboration with various stakeholders. Experience from politically governed organizations and/or work across sector boundaries is meritorious.
To thrive and succeed in the role, we see that you can communicate complex issues in a simple way that creates understanding and engagement, build trusting relationships, and work solution-focused in complex processes. You plan and drive your work both independently and together with others. You have a curious and courageous approach and a strong desire to contribute to a long-term sustainable society.
Warm welcome with your application!
